This is not an exhibition but a storybook. Telling the beautiful but struggle-filled moments of being a mom. I would like to invite all of you to read my daily life as a mother and primary caregiver entangled with being an artist. By knowing how materials work, using processes that are similar to domestic life to allow familiarity with the forms, and muscle memory, how do I engage with the subtleties of the materials? How do they move and respond to my hands and the combination of clay forming?
Using polymer clay and kitchen tools, my work crosses the domestic through the use of tools and themes focused on pregnancy, children, and motherhood.
I encourage you to look closely to find some feeling that your wife, your mom, or you yourself might have experienced, find some power, or something that strikes a chord from my story. -Weiting Wei
