Movement classes are specifically designed for adults over 50 and taught by instructor Laura Patterson. Using principles from ballet, contemporary, and improvisational dance, class exercises cultivate strength, coordination, range of motion, flexibility, and creative skills. These dance activities also challenge the brain by connecting thinking and moving, helping to maintain or enhance cognitive functions such as memory. Participants of all physical abilities, whether completely new to dance or returning after many years, experience the physical and cognitive benefits of dance alongside other older adults in a supportive community. Seated and standing movement are both welcome.
