The Ancient Door Knocker is a door decoration with the purpose of exorcising evil spirits on the palace mansion or the gate compound of the past. It has a history of more than two thousand years. The paving heads are traditionally made of copper and iron, with various shapes, especially the animal face ring as the main form. Ultra-light, air-dry clay is easier and more comfortable and suitable for modeling. Air Dry clay is relatively popular in Japan, it’s a new kind of environmental protection, non-toxic, natural air drying manual modeling materials.
In this class, we will sculpture the black air dry clay to the animal face door knocker, by brushing the golden acrylic paint on the surface to mimic the texture of copper (bronze).
