I am committed to creating a classroom where students fully engage in the process of learning, creating, re-inventing, collaborating, questioning, pushing, shaking, and making mistakes powerfully and with great intention. I believe in students being unstoppable in how they chose to express themselves in whatever medium, format or arena they choose.
I began my art practice while working eight years as an art critic in print journalism. Reviewing bad art inspired me to “do better.” Classes lead to a career change. I received my Master’s in Fine Art in 2001 from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. I followed graduate school with several artist residencies including Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass, Colorado and the Belden Brick Factory in Canton, Ohio. I have taught at The Ohio State University, Otterbein College, Ohio Northern University, The Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary, Canada and was one of the first artists to work and teach at the The Shaw International Centre for Contemporary Ceramics in Medicine Hat, Canada.
