Kelly Whalen: Meet Me at DQ

The Worthington Dairy Queen was first opened in 1956 at the current location on the corner of N. High and North Streets. The original owner sold the business in 1983 and has been operated by the same family of owners since then.

It is a major landmark in our city and a gathering spot for post-game celebrations, the last days of school, first warm days of spring, hot summer evenings and every day in between.  I re-created this scene after admiring the bright red and white umbrellas in the sunshine and the vintage neon sign above.  I hope it will remind viewers of the fun and happiness everyone has when going to DQ with friends and family.  Finally, I have admired how much this business and its owners give back to our community in so many different ways.
