Then, something remarkable happened. A new breed of collectors emerged and, before long, they were battling to acquire any work by these new, radical artists that they could find. Columbus Cultural Orchestra: A Symphonic Night of ’90s Hip-Hop

A crossover between tradition and contemporary, Columbus Cultural Orchestra (CCO) starts off their season with a tribute to 1990s hip-hop. Stephen Spottswood, founder and classically trained violinist, noticed that the orchestras he played with weren’t playing his favorite hip-hop and R&B songs. CCO is an exciting new orchestra program offered to instrumentalists ages13-25 who play at least at the intermediate level. Established in 2020, the orchestra teaches developing musicians arrangements of jazz, hip-hop, and classical. Bringing back classics to the orchestral world, you can expect to hear throwbacks from SWV, Brandy, Usher, Destiny’s Child, Aaliyah and more! Look forward to creative instrumentation including vocals, drums, keyboard, and disc jockey–to form a head bopping, beat dropping innovative performance!
