Temporary Passenger is an exhibition of art that arises from the desire to acknowledge more fully where we come from, where we belong, and how we are shaped by place.
Places of origin ground us physically, emotionally, and spiritually. When we encounter different locations and environments, they inspire and recenter us. We create mental maps to mark our journeys and measure distances traveled. By witnessing the land’s agelessness, features, and history, our own small, brief footprint is affirmed. We walk endless miles to learn and explore, hoping to absorb what nature reveals. Recognizing the impact of the human presence through archeological sites allows us to know those who came before, those who came after, and ourselves. By collecting elements from the landscape and putting them to use in our work, we hope to connect — in spite of our brief existence — to a place, a time, and a people. Our work is a spiritual map of what we value and a record of our journey.
We inhabit the Earth. We live off the Earth. We return to the Earth.
