Ronald Claxton, Joseph Kiner and the St. John A.M.E. Church

 

The theme of this artwork, Charles Kiner and the St. John A.M.E. Church, is based on one of the earlier members and the beginning of the church. The first building was named Bethel A.M.E. then renamed to St. John A.M.E. and moved to Crossroads Drive. The church was founded by people of African descent. Charles Kiner additionally became town marshal in 1891 in Worthington. The type of artwork is an assemblage which is made from found objects and 2-dimensional media. From the beginning to present day the church represents Christian religious strength and faith within in the S. John A.M.E. church of Worthington, Ohio (October’s Worthington Memory, 2020).
