Adventures in Hand Papermaking (2 sessions)
Adults | Any Skill Level
Instructor: Ron Shaull
Thursday May 8th & Friday May 9th
10:00am – 5:00pm
In this 2-day, hands-on workshop, learn how to transform natural plant fibers (cotton, corn husk, hemp and more) into flat sheets of beautiful paper using traditional low-tech Western papermaking methods – from pulping and sheet forming, to pressing and drying. Master a mould and deckle and explore artistic techniques such as laminations, veils, inclusions, pigments and knockouts. Create a stack of handmade paper to use as one-of-kind stationery, envelopes, and cards, or make unique material for your own bookmaking, printmaking, origami, collage and other visual arts. The instructor will provide all supplies and tools. No prior experience is necessary.
