A New Place to Park Your Bike at the MAC
May 8, 2012The Peggy R. McConnell Arts Center is proud to announce the display of the center’s new bike rack. On Friday, May 4, the MAC unveiled the first of the two bike racks in Worthington. The oversized bike-shaped rack is bright red and resembles four side-by-side wheels, to which bikes can be hooked, and is supported across the top by two handlebars. An identical purple rack was also dedicated southeast of Graeter’s parking lot. This new artistic display is part of an effort to encourage biking downtown.
The artistic racks were designed and made by Creative Metal Works of Portland, Oregon. They were the brainchild of Fred Yaeger, co-founder of Sustainable Worthington, an organization that promotes environmental programs.
The bike rack at the MAC was purchased by the Rotary Club of Dublin-Worthington and the Worthington AM Rotary Club. The Downtown rack was funded by The Olde Worthington Business Association.
Keep a look out for more of these colorful bike racks to turn up around Worthington, including Shops at Worthington Place and the news Dewey’s Pizza, which is planned for downtown Worthington.
